3 Benefits of Metal Roofing

Metal roofs are a better option than other roofing materials in various ways. If you are thinking of purchasing metal roofing for your home, it is important to understand the benefits that you stand to gain from it. Highlighted below are the benefits of steel, aluminum and other metal roofing.

Life Expectancy
Properly installed metal roofing can last for as long as the house exists. Such roofs are capable of sealing out water, withstanding high speeds and also shedding snows. They are also resistant to fire, rot, mildew and insects. Most companies provide about 20 to 50 years warranty on metal roofs. Roofs with paint finishes have on average a 30 year warranty.

Ease of Installation
Metal roofs can be easily installed by roofing professionals. Since metals have the ability to be designed in different sizes and very large pieces, their installation is usually easier when compared to asphalt or shingles that require hand nailing shingles or the use of other materials. This goes a long way in saving labor costs and these types of roofs can be installed quickly without interrupting business and other daily operations.

Fire Resistance and Heat Conduction
Since metal roofs are not combustible, they are assigned a Class A fire rating. This implies that they belong to the class of the most fire-resistant materials. Such classification depends on those materials that are beneath the surface that could ignite in extreme heat. For instance, metal roofs that are applied over combustible materials like wood shingles have a lower rating (Class C rating).

Also, metals are capable of reflecting radiant heat from the sun. This helps in minimizing the rate at which heat is gained, thereby saving energy that is needed for air conditioning the home during the day. Although the material has a low insulation R-value, there are lots of systems that make use of dead-air space in-between metal and roof deck that help in improving energy efficiency.

I like that this mentioned that metal roofs were energy efficient and fire resistant. My aunt had her house burn down last year, so fire safety is a huge priority for her while rebuilding. Does metal roofing make buildings warmer though? We live in a dry state, so it gets very hot in the summers.

My favorite part of this article is when you mentioned that metal roofings are fire resistant. We live in Texas and the scorching heat oftentimes leads to house fires. Now that I know how fire resistant metal roofings are we’d be sure to have them upgraded to that material. We moved here just a few months back and we’re still using the same ones. Thanks for the informative read!

It was really nice to know that metal roofs are easy to install because this kind of roof does not require hand nailing shingles or the use of other materials to complete the installation. Now that we need to replace our old roof, our biggest problem is the place where we can stay while the installation is ongoing. We actually don’t prefer staying in a different place, so it will be ideal for us to consider metal roofing.

It was really nice to know that you can expect metal roofing to last for as long as your house exists because this kind or roofing can withstand high speeds and can shed snows. This is a great tip for me because I’m looking to replace our old new roof with a new roofing material that can resist damages so I won’t have to replace it after a few years. I will be sure to consider metal roofing.

It was nice to know that metal roofing can last for a long time because they are resistant to fire, rot, mildew, and insects. My husband and I are interested in finding the best roofing material for our new roof. It’s important for us to make sure that we won’t have to replace our new roof after a few years because of rotting due to some elements, so we’ll make sure to consider metal roofing.
