What makes Residential roofing indispensable for homeowners?

What makes Residential roofing indispensable for homeowners?

Residential roofing

One of the most important aspects of your home is your roof.

Your residential roof helps protect your house from rain, extreme sun shine and all the other elements your roof may experience throughout the year. Working with an established residential roofing company is critical to ensure your roof looks amazing and lasts for many years to come.

Building the top of your home is a tricky and difficult task because roofs consist of many different components. Performance of your roof depends on the elements that join together to form the structure of the roof itself.

One of the many important elements your residential roof consists of is called the underlayment, which is the black sheet placed over the plywood sheets. It plays an important role in warding off the effects of rain and snow. Membranes are also present, which ensure your roofs longevity by offering protection from wear and tear.

Other important elements of your roof include:

Flashing – Used to divert water from specific locations such as hips and valleys on to the ground.
Trim – Secures the seams and doesn’t allow them to get ripped in case of heavy damage caused by weather.
Ridge – The highest point of the roof and a vital component of any good roof.
Valley – Created when the sections of the roof slope in a downward direction.
Gables – Structures that extend from the eaves to the peak of the roof.
Dormers – Ensure adequate flow of sunlight into the room.
Shingles – Impart durability and make the house sturdier and stronger.

I want to make sure that my roof is taken care of. I didn’t know that there were so many different elements to consider! Maybe I should have a professional inspect my roof to make sure that it’s in good condition.

That’s interesting that there is an underlayment that is a black sheet placed over the plywood to protect the home from rain or snow. My husband and I live in a pretty snowy area and we found that some of our shingles have fallen up and we saw something black and I wondered what it was. That’s good to know that it’s underlayment so now we’ll have to call a roofing company to come look at our roof and see if the underlayment is still intact or needs to be replaced along with the shingles.
